Are you looking for a greater sense of aliveness and authenticity? Is something not working in your life? I will help you find and recover parts of yourself that have been lost or underdeveloped. I can help you learn to loosen the grip of painfully repetitive patterns that, while familiar and having provided safety in the past, are exacting too high a price in the present. Accomplishing this will involve working with self defeating cognitive and emotional maps about oneself, others, and one's world that interfere with meeting core emotional needs, and shifting feelings, thinking, and behavior.
I see older teenagers, adults, and particularly like working with couples. I help couples alter patterns that detract from emotional and sexual intimacy as well as friendship. With over 30 years of experience working with a broad range of presenting issues, I incorporate several different therapeutic approaches and practices.
Some of these are drawn from psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, hypnotic, existential, and schema therapy traditions, as well as several schools of system/couples therapy. I have been in the Boston area since 1978 when I moved here to complete an internship at Beth Israel Hospital.
