Carol Greenberger, MA, LPC, Licensed Professional Counselor in Asheville
Are you in pain, in an unhealthy relationship, feeling alone, anxious or depressed, wondering how you got here? I work with you to build a collaborative relationship, finding the best pathway to your healing. I create a safe and comfortable environment comprised of genuine caring and empathy, without judgment. My clients tell me I'm warm, easy to talk to, and down to earth. I call upon a variety of treatment approaches. I have a psychodynamic, relational approach combined with CBT, EFT, EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing). This technique quickly heals trauma and other upsetting experiences. I am a certified EMDR therapist.
Knowledge gained from 25 years of mindfulness meditation enhances our work. Some typical reasons people come to me are negative thought patterns, self-defeating behaviors, compulsions, addictions, trauma, or feeling trapped in the pain of the past and not knowing how to let go.
I work with couples to resolve conflicts, increase intimacy, rebuild trust after an affair, and with co-parents after separation. In order to feel truly loved, we have to feel known as a particular person and then accepted without excessive criticism or correction. I use Imago, Emotionally Focused Therapy and Family Systems.

Carol Greenberger's Groups

Support Group for Women in Recovery

For women in recovery who would like extra support, we extend a special invitation for women in their first 1-2 years of recovery. However, women with longer sobriety are welcome. Being part of a group of women who meet consistently over time, and who support one another deeply can strengthen a recovery program. Participants will share in a safe, confidential environment. We'll cover topics such as: common relapse triggers for women, boundary setting, developing healthy relationships, recovery support, and creation of a healthier sense of self. Couples' Therapy Group: Re Ignite the Spark

Improve communication. Release old hurts. Reestablish trust. Develop deeper connection. Increase intimacy. Replace old patterns with new healthier ones. The power of the safe and confidential couples' group is in the sharing of your journey with other couples and in giving and receiving support. We all have strengths to share. We will be working through the exercises in John Gottman's book, The Seven Principles of Making Marriage Work. "After 25 years, our marriage was probably typical of many - we were living parallel lives, united only by raising our children together. We were physically present but not emotionally..." Join us.
