I help highly sensitive women stop feeling resentful and start reclaiming ease and authenticity in their relationships. If that sounds like you, you're probably ready to speak your mind without fear and connect with your most important relationships, but you keep hearing this little voice that says “it’s not important”, “but they’ll be mad!”, “doing it myself is just easier”, “you’re not worth that”, and “what will they think of me!?”. You want to feel less overwhelmed, overworked, and burdened. You want to feel joy and connected in your partnership.

Working as a music producer over the years allowed me to help countless individuals explore and express themselves in a safe and nurturing way. Becoming a therapist was a natural progression for me, one that combines my love for the arts and the fields of mental health and human development.

Is it time for a change? Do you feel depressed, anxious, stuck, or angry? Do past experiences negatively impact the present? Do you need a safe place to feel listened to and supported? At times, we all find ourselves feeling lost and afraid. Things in our lives may not be going in a desired way or we may find that we come up against the same issues time and again. Life can sometimes be overwhelming and painful. You may feel like things will never get better or that change is out of reach. I believe that the trials of life can be tremendous opportunities for growth.

Psychotherapy is about change and growth, an endeavor that takes commitment and courage. Change can be painful at times and often scares us, so we rather stay within the bounds of old but familiar patterns of going about our lives. To have someone you trust to guide you through the change process can make all the difference. A genuine and supportive therapeutic relationship can help you take an honest look at your feelings and thoughts about yourself and your relationships with others, which will bring about the change that removes the barriers to a healthy and fulfilled life.

I believe that meaningful transformation is possible through the therapeutic process, and I am committed to helping you address the issues and conflicts which undermine your ability to achieve happiness and satisfaction. I have several years experience working with adults in a variety of settings (VA and private hospitals, university clinics and psychoanalytic institutes). My orientation is primarily psychoanalytic/psychodynamic, although I employ other approaches, such as mindfulness, cognitive behavioral, and self psychology interventions, where appropriate. I also believe that understanding the role of culture, ethnicity, gender and sexual orientation is a vital part of treatment.

Experience has taught me that there is no single script for a successful therapeutic endeavor. You bring to each encounter exactly what you are experiencing in the moment. You may arrive looking for clarity, healing, or hope. Our task is to clear some space to enable new thoughts and perspectives to emerge. Insight can lead to change, but not always in a straight line. Our ongoing conversation is the place of discovery, dynamic struggle, and meaning making, all of which contribute to new ways of relating and perceiving.

Have you wondered if you would benefit from therapy? I offer a complimentary consultation to discuss any questions you may have. As a senior therapist at Greenwich Psychology Group, I enjoy working with children and adolescents that may be struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, behavioral or family issues. You can talk to me about anything; nothing will surprise me. I am accessible to parents and easy to talk to. I focus on your child, recognize their strengths, and develop tools to become their own therapist by learning how to deal with challenges. Clients often feel better early on in treatment.

Whether the collapse is "out there" or "in here," it often seems the world is collapsing. Many of us seek therapy because the sense of losing our mind, ourselves, our loved ones, or our livelihood is terrifying, and the real threats of psychic catastrophes are debilitating. Knowing what we want becomes increasingly difficult, and we struggle to take shape and hold on to ourselves in the presence of others. We fold up or fold in to protect ourselves and our relationships, but then aloneness, desperation, panic, and self-attack set in.

I work with men, women, and couples over 18 years of age. No matter what your reason is for seeking therapy, you deserve someone to witness your truth without reaction. You might be unsure whether you’re justified being in therapy or tell yourself that things aren’t really that bad and that you’re okay. But allowing someone to just be there with you creates the space to look at your expectations, thoughts, and feelings, and see what you want to do with them. It's valuable for someone to be part of your journey to help you explore what your narrative is and how it is affected by patterns and dynamics that affect all of us.

Therapy is a place to explore your authentic self. Together, we can build an environment where that can happen. Life throws many challenges our way, but through therapy, one can develop skills and insights to help us navigate those challenges. Therapy is one's self-exploration journey that I would love to be a part of. As a mental health counselor, my aim is to build strong relationships with each of my clients and revel in their accomplishments. More importantly, I am focused on guiding my clients through their challenges and recovery process with a person-centered, humanistic approach. Individuals can expect to step into a safe and empathetic environment where I will work to understand potential triggers and build a treatment plan with the goal of releasing these mental burdens.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in New York?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
