Daniel Schiff, PhD, Psychologist in Portland
I have over 35 years of clinical experience helping individuals and couples who are experiencing either chronic or acute emotional distress, or are living their lives without passion or intimacy. I work with clients who are suffering from depression and/or anxiety, have difficulties with relationships at home or at work, are coping with a crisis in their lives that is effecting their emotional well being, or are experiencing physical pains, symptoms, or other health problems that are either due to or exacerbated by chronic emotional stress or by difficulties in feeling or expressing emotion.
As a humanistic psychotherapist I believe that everyone has the capacity to heal and grow regardless of age or depth of emotional pain and distress. However, often this capacity gets trapped within life-long patterns of thinking, feeling, relating, moving, and breathing that no longer support growth and change.
I combine the interpersonal and experiential approach of Gestalt Therapy and the body-focused approach of Reichian Therapy with current theories on human development, attachment, and emotions to assist my clients to recognize and remove the blocks to growth that stand at the center of their emotional and physical distress.
