David S. Wachtel, PhD, Psychologist in Houston
I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who since 1981 has been helping individuals, couples and familes find effective solutions for emotional, relationship, spiritual, educational/work difficutlies, trauma, unresolved family-of-origin issues, and compulsive and addictive behaviors including chemical dependency issues. I utilize a comprehensive treatment approach that recognizes and addresses the factors that originally caused the difficulties to develop and the current patterns of feeling, thinking and acting that perpetuate them. I also view my role and responsibiilities as coordinating all aspects of care--psychological, neurological, medical, and medication when needed.
I deeply believe that everyone has the capacity to grow and change if provided with the proper resources and guidance. This occurs within a safe, trusting environment in which the person, couple or family feels understood/"gotten", regains hope and begins to experience change within a relatively short period of time.
Unlike most Houston therapists, I have several major areas of specialization. These include: (1) psychoanalytic/psychodynamic psychotherapy as described above; (2) comprehensive treatment of compulsive and addictive disorders; and (3) treatment of ADHD and Learning Disabilities. Feel free to call my office directly at 713-668-9126.
