Ms. Deborah Poitevent

Clinical Social Work/Therapist , LCSW , BACS

I believe compassion and understanding are critical to the counseling process. It also takes courage when you, the client, are willing to explore challenging issues in a safe environment. This promotes healing. Change is tough, but so much is possible when one can see and experience life in a new more satisfying way! For most of us, the stress of change (good or bad) can feel uncomfortable. I want to help clients become more familiar with their inner feelings and recognize that new choices can bring a more enjoyable life. This is an exciting journey and one worth taking.
I work with issues concerning grief and loss, trauma, aging, personal growth, and relationships. Whether we have lost a loved one to death or dementia; experienced divorce or separation; had hopes and dreams crushed by traumatic experience; all are worthy of exploration and a search for a more satisfying life.
I take a hopeful and interactive approach with my clients. I encourage people to be curious about their lives, and I encourage them to deal with unresolved issues in order to gain insight and relief from the stress that creates. I believe life is rich and exciting and shouldn't be missed!
