Esther Rowan, MSS, LCSW, CAADC, Clinical Social Work/Therapist in Pottsville
I believe it takes courage to decide to begin therapy and to commit to a process of growth and change. I respect this courageous decision and strive to create a therapeutic environment that is warm, compassionate, and empathetic. I view therapy as a collaborative relationship in which the client is in control and the therapist supports the client in addressing issues, building skills, and creating positive change. I have special expertise in addressing trauma and abuse as well as addiction, depression, anxiety, and bereavement. I also treat clients with more severe and chronic mental illness.
I am certified in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and use a cognitive-behavioral approach which emphasizes the connection between thoughts, feelings, and actions. I support my clients in exploring how changing our thinking can lead to other positive, healthy changes in ourselves, our relationships, and our lives.
I also have extensive experience working with individuals and families struggling with addiction. I view addiction as a disease as well as learned behaviors. I support clients in changing behaviors associated with using while addressing underlying thoughts or feelings which can be a barrier to long-term sobriety.
