Dr. Kay Emerick

Psychologist , PhD

(805) 244-5827
In my 32 years as a clinical and forensic psychologist, I have evaluated and treated hundreds of individuals with unique life histories, and equally unique paths to healing. My clients appreciate my warmth, my sense of humor, and my directness. Let's have a conversation! Call me at 805-655-5021 or e-mail me at kaybirder@aol.com
My greatest strength is evaluating and treating trauma of all kinds. Most psychological problems stem from learned reactions to trauma. Depression and personality difficulties can be addressed using trauma-treatment modalities: EMDR, and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction. I work with psychiatrists who prescribe medications addressing neurochemical conditions.
I am a well-known forensic psychologist, with a reputation for thoroughness and honesty since 1981.I have testified as an expert witness in personal injury litigation, including motor vehicle accidents, airplane crashes, natural disasters, and sexual abuse or harassment. I have taught judges, attorneys, and probation officers about psychological testing and risk assessment.
