Isaac Shamah, LCSW-R, SEP, NCPsyA, Clinical Social Work/Therapist in Nyack
A caring and supportive therapeutic relationship fosters growth and learning. I listen deeply and reflectively to sustain a creative, compassionate and safe environment that not only promotes trust and healing, but cultivates open and meaningful exploration of challenging life issues. My approach is holistic and multi-dimensional, engaging the imagination and supporting emotional and spiritual healing. I am a licensed clinical social worker in private practice in Nyack, New York. I am also a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner specializing in trauma resolution.
I trained in psychoanalysis at the Institute of Expressive Analysis in NYC and specialized in couples therapy at the Westchester Center for the Study of Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy. I am a certified therapist in EMDR, a treatment approach that is highly recommended and has been empirically validated for the treatment of trauma.
My practice is also inspired by 23 years of contemplative, mindfulness based Vipassana meditation, by many years of interest in the creative arts, and by the natural rhythms of nature and the lessons we learn when we listen. I look forward to meeting you.
