Jeanette Lorandini, LCSW-R, Clinical Social Work/Therapist in Mount Sinai
Does your child have problems regulating his or her emotions? Do they go from 0-100 in no time and are they prone to frequent behavioral and emotional outbursts? Have you noticed a change in him or her? Are you concerned that your child might be unhappy? I offer a warm, genuine, and skillful approach to treatment in which children/adolescents learn that its ok to be emotional. That being sensitive is a gift even though it may feel like a curse. They will learn how to maneuver in a world that often misunderstands them.
My clinical work is primarily focused on children, adolescents /young adults. I also include the family in this model. My specialty in working with impulsivity, suicidality and self harm behaviors have prepared me to treat multiple disorders such as eating disorders, addiction, depression, anxiety, identity confusion, and attention deficit disorder.
Therapy in DBT focuses on finding solutions to problems rather than focusing on the problem. I completed the Foundational Training in DBT, years of supervision, and attended multiple DBT conferences. Currently, I offer individual, adult, adolescent , and a middle school skills group a week. Family group weekly.

Jeanette Lorandini's Groups

Young Adult Group

The DBT skills group is an didactic-based skills group that aims to help clients learn, understand, and apply skills out of each DBT module (Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation, and Interpersonal Effectiveness). Groups begin with a mindfulness practice and homework review from the previous week. Each group session will teach a specific skill and provide an opportunity to discuss successful planning and implementation of the skill and factors that could make the skill challenging to practice and master.

Middle School DBT Program

This DBT Program treats Middle Schoolers with a variety of diagnoses including depression, anxiety, ADD, ADHD, OCD, emotion regulation disorders, self-harm/impulse disorders, and eating disorders. Our DBT Program for Middle Schoolers teaches the full set of DBT Skills to kids and their parents (so that parents can reinforce the skills at home during the week), with homework to review throughout the week. It takes 6 months to go through all four DBT modules (Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation, Mindfulness, Interpersonal Effectiveness). Individuals in our DBT program must be in weekly individual therapy. A Parent must attend.
