I've been in private practice for over 30 years, seeing a wide variety of people. I see adults and teens for individual psychodynamic psychotherapy, and also counsel couples and parents. I see clients for short-term as well as long-term therapy, depending on their needs. I work with clients suffering with anxiety and depression, relationship issues, communication difficulties, and work matters. Each person is seen as a unique individual with concerns that are taken seriously and addressed with respect and caring in a safe, non-judgmental environment. The goal is to promote self-understanding, self-acceptance and a happier life.
I tailor each session to your needs, both immediate and future. My approach is psychodynamic, interpersonal and interactive, with an emphasis on understanding your emotional needs, improving communication skills, and providing practical solutions to life's challenges. I see psychotherapy as a collaborative interchange between therapist and client.
In addition, I am a Certified Parent Effectiveness Training (P.E.T.) Instructor, and specialize in helping parents improve their relationships with their children - at any age! This twelve week, twelve session workshop covers practical concerns that parents face - it is interactive, not a lecture series. Based on "Parent Effectiveness Training (P.E.T.)," developed by Thomas Gordon, PhD., you will learn a system of communication, with specific skills and techniques to cover the situations that are part of your everyday family life. You will be able to apply what you learn each week with family and friends, have a chance to assess how you're doing, and ask questions.
