I am a New York State licensed psychologist and have been helping people to improve their quality of life for over 20 years. I believe that change occurs when life achieves more balance; between emotions and rational thinking, between work and play, strength and vulnerability, attention to ourselves vs. attention to others. There are many reasons why we can become less effective in life-- thoughts, habits, past experiences-- and therapy can help to identify, and work on new ways of managing life's daily stresses.
Following the above philosophy, I am intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy which emphasizes balance, including that between acceptance and change. I can help you to identify ineffective patterns and to learn healthier coping skills. I have a nonjudgemental, interactive style and work with you toward your own goals.
I offer phone coaching between sessions when needed to reinforce new skills. I work with families to navigate life transitions and support healthier relationships. If you're contemplating this but still aren't sure, feel free to get in contact--I'm happy to talk it over with you.
