Julie Satz, PsyD, Psychologist in Scarsdale
I am a licensed clinical psychologist and have been helping people to improve their quality of life for over 20 years. I believe that change can occur and contentment is more achievable when we find more balance; between emotions and rational thinking, between work and play, independence vs. seeking help, attention to ourselves vs. attention to others. There are many valid reasons why we can become stuck-- thoughts, habits, past experiences-- and therapy can help to identify and strengthen more effective ways of managing problems.
Following the above philosophy, I am intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy which emphasizes learning and practicing effective coping skills. I can help you to identify what isn't working well and develop a plan with you that develops better strategies. I have a nonjudgemental, interactive style and work with you toward your own goals.
I offer phone coaching between sessions when needed to reinforce new skills. I work with families to navigate life transitions and to help reduce tensions between family members. If you're contemplating this but still aren't sure, feel free to get in contact--I'm happy to talk it over with you.
