Karen Ergas, PhD, RPsych, Psychologist in Vancouver
I am a registered clinical psychologist with over 20 years experience working with individuals who have eating disorders. I worked at St. Paul's Hospital Eating Disorders Program from 1994-2011. While there, I served as coordinator of the Follow-Up Program, provided assessment, treatment, supervision and teaching in the field. I have also served as program development consultant for Woodstone Residential Eating Disorders Program. My approach to treatment depends on what a client needs at any given time and their readiness to make changes. I work collaboratively with clients to explore the function of their eating disorder symptoms and teach them healthier coping skills.
Aside from working with individuals who have anorexia or bulimia, I also have extensive experience working with individuals who suffer from emotional eating and binge eating disorder. In addition, I work with individuals who struggle with issues of depression, anxiety, physical, sexual and or emotional abuse, self-esteem, grief and loss and general life transitions.
