Kay Emerick, PhD, Psychologist in Ventura
In my 33 years as a clinical and forensic psychologist, I have evaluated and treated hundreds of individuals with unique life histories, and equally unique paths to healing. As of April, 2017, I am retiring from my psychotherapy practice. I will continue to practice as a forensic psychologist, also part of my long career. The Court and attorneys appreciate my clinical acumen, my warmth, my sense of humor, and my directness in the evaluations and testimony I prepare for the Court. My reputation as an ethical forensic psychologist is well known to the Courts since 1985.
Forensic work includes civil litigation evaluations, both plaintiff and defense. Criminal evaluations include death penalty cases. My work with mentally ill populations informs the Court in Competency and Sanity issues. As a consultant to Ventura Children and Family Services I manage psychological evaluations in dependency cases.
As a forensic psychologist I am committed to thoroughness and honesty.I have testified as an expert witness in personal injury litigation, including natural disaster, transportation accidents, and sexual abuse and harassment. I have taught judges, attorneys, and probation officers about psychological testing and risk assessment.
