My name is Cecilia Bezi. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with an exceptional ability to listen. I am very empathetic, enthusiastic, and I can motivate you to produce the needed changes to grow. Life is dynamic, and sometimes crises are challenges to produce those changes in ourselves and in our environment. I will be active with you in your journey. I have plenty experience, more than 15 years, working with Behavioral and Cognitive therapies. I work with EMDR to elaborate past events and traumas, so the present can be lived fully. I will be glad to be with you during this process.

Sometimes even the strongest people need help to work through some of life’s more challenging problems. Overwhelming emotions can feel like they take over and impact our wellbeing and relationships. We can’t get “rid” of emotions or symptoms; however, we can learn to better manage them and improve stress management with therapy. My goal is to help you discover mindfulness coping skills to better manage emotions, thoughts, and self-talk so that you can improve the quality of your life and relationships. My aim is to help you discover new meaning, purpose, and thrive in your all areas of your life. Follow me on Instagram @drsylviak

We have all or at some point in time will experience a life-changing or even downright traumatic event. It doesn’t matter if it happened in your childhood or adulthood, it marks you. It changes you. It leads to feelings of burnout, poor self-care, irritability, depression, anxiety, sick and tired of being sick and tired, and more. Those changes can be difficult to work through alone. You are not alone (Sing it with me, I know the song popped into your head). Together we will learn what you need to live a life where you feel authentic, living according to your values so that you'll be present and fulfilled in your life.

In-person in Miami Beach. Online in the rest of Florida and Kansas. Clients describe me as authentic, straightforward, empathetic, nurturing, and easy to talk to. Do you feel like you “know” what you “should” do to improve your life, but just can’t seem to be able to do it? Do you feel overwhelmed with anxiety and stress, unable to relax and focus? Do you feel like your past experiences prevent you from moving forward and enjoying life? If so, therapy may be a good option. While it can be daunting to start the process and seek help, it can truly be life-changing. Finding the right therapist is very important in this journey.

Life can be painful, relationships can be disappointing, and self-sabotage can be your barrier to achieving your full potential. Real change is possible, but not easy. It happens in your life when you decide to take control of what you have power to change instead of trying to exercise control over what you don't. I assist clients by helping them identify the specific maladaptive thoughts and behaviors ingrained in each of us from our pasts and which can sabotage our futures. Working together clients can gain self-awareness, identify core values and create goals changing their life direction.

Are you in recovery but feeling stuck? Are you tired of running from your past? Are you unable to experience vulnerability in a relationship without feeling panic or acting out in destructive ways? You know in your heart that there are issues you have to resolve to have the life you want. You need more than self-help books and 12 step meetings. You didn't begin your journey in recovery to end up feeling stuck. I understand. I am a psychotherapist who is also in recovery. I experienced the same and I am able to help you.

OCD is a heavy burden. And it feels even heavier when nothing seems to help, including therapy. Maybe you feel that OCD is just something you have to tolerate for the rest of your life. I don’t believe that “coping” is your only option. I believe OCD is treatable. And I believe you can make deep-seated and long-lasting change. Together, we’ll look beyond your diagnosis and subtype, and understand the beliefs that maintain the OCD in your life. This can be daunting, but I’ll be there with you every step of the way offering guidance and support.

I feel very strongly that solid relationships promote personal growth, be it academic, developmental, or emotional. I work hard to connect with others on a real level and to show the people in both my personal and professional life that I respect and appreciate them. I believe that we are all capable of taking responsibility for ourselves and using our unique and challenging experiences to drive growth. In my various roles (partner, therapist, friend, peer), I strive to be forthcoming, honest, and when fitting, playful, in order to strengthen the bonds I share with the individuals in my life.

Welcome! I pride myself in providing child & adolescent specific care that heavily emphasizes family engagement. I find more optimal outcomes in my work when parents are willing to become vulnerable and connect with their children. Too often, we become focused on what children are not doing right and on their pathology that we lose sight of the things they are good at and the things that make them precious and unique. I teach parents how to harness their children's strengths to aid them in overcoming their struggles. The heart of this work lies in connection. If a child does not feel connected and safe, they will not heal.

Would you benefit from having a safe, non-judgmental space to express and process your thoughts and emotions? Many times, our past experiences impact our ability to connect to others and appreciate the current moment. It can be helpful to read the previous chapters of our lives to gain an understanding of the present and provide direction for future chapters we aspire to write.

In Love We Learn provides support for individuals with sensorimotor differences (autism and otherwise), their families, and their team of practitioners. Sensorimotor differences can impact so much. Life is complex, and can become even more so when considering someone living with and experiencing these differences. Families may struggle to find clinicians who can provide fulfilling guidance and support. My clients are looking for someone who can provide a unique perspective to their families' care. They are looking to build an intentional lifestyle around their loved one who is motor-impacted.

Derived from the two ancient Greek words psyche (“spirit” or “soul”) and therapeia (“healing”), psychotherapy is literally defined as “healing of the soul.” Trauma, loss, and other difficult experiences can cause us to lose touch with our innermost selves, leading to suffering, feelings of isolation and disconnection. Depression, anxiety, loneliness, relationship problems, and lack of purpose often result from difficulty knowing and understanding ourselves. My process of psychotherapy is aimed at helping you reconnect with the most authentic aspects of yourself that have become lost over time.

It’s tough when your mind becomes a place you’d rather escape from. That voice in your head is increasingly negative and you just don’t feel like yourself anymore. Stressors are starting to build up and relationships are beginning to suffer. It takes so much energy to put on a good face, when you are just barely holding it together on the inside. What’s more, it feels like no one around you is struggling as much as you. But you are not alone. There is a space where you can be heard and understood without judgment. Whether you're in crisis, feeling stuck, or simply seeking growth, therapy can help.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Miami Beach?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
