Orna Goldwater, PhD, Psychologist in Dallas
I am a Collaborative Psychologist, working with individuals, families, and couples. I treat Depression, postpartum anxiety, marital conflicts, and I coach parents to improve their interactions with their children especially if the child is struggling with emotional and behavioral problems, or ADHD. Therapy works when we develop complete honesty, mutual respect, optimism, and realistic goals . Mindfulness, and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) are research based tools I use to help patients. I help patients to clarify their goals and ideals of how to have a good life. Therapy ends when patients feel that they are satisfied with the results.
Depression, Anxiety, Postpartum depression, ADHD, and Marital conflicts are problems I treat. Problem behaviors whether learned or biologically endowed, often impact more than one person. Pessimism, hopelessness, and passivity turn small problems to chronic and entrenched. Optimism, and active problem solving are needed to change problems into opportunities for growth.
I feel that sense of humor is valuable tool when attempting to solve problems. Humor can help develop creativity and flexibility. I help patient to discover their own humor and utilize gratitude, compassion for self, and others, acceptance, and forgiveness when confronted with problems that cannot be reversed.
