Patricia E. Zurita Ona, PsyD, Psychologist in Walnut Creek
Understanding "why or how" a problem has become a problem it's not enough; "doing something about it" is what matters at the end. If we work together, we'll come up with a treatment plan to tap into your struggles and start making a shift. I encourage behavioral-change processes based on your personal values, at your pace, and with caring. If you're not ready to make a change, let's help you move from stuckness to readiness. I specialized in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), the front-line therapies for handling life difficulties.
I work with adolescents and adults struggling with all types of anxiety, depression, or chronic interpersonal problems. Particular areas of expertise are Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), social anxiety, and emotion dysregulation problems with/without suicidal behaviors (feeling too much, too quick, and too soon).
I'm the co-author of the book "Mind and Emotions: a universal treatment for emotional disorders." My new book "Parenting a Troubled Teen: Manage Conflict and Deal with Intense Emotions Using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy" will be released in 2017.
