Ms. Sara Peterson

Counselor , MS , LPC

(414) 303-5133
I believe the level of success in treatment begins with the development of the client-therapist relationship. From this base, I can support you in facilitating the changes you want to achieve. I view psychotherapy as a collaborative process, which involves active participation. I work with a broad range of mental health disorders such as anxiety, depression, anger, grief, and trauma. My emphasis is treating adolescents and adults who struggle with domestic abuse, childhood and sexual traumas, co-dependency, divorce, and relationship issues. I work with university students who are experiencing life transition, relationship, academic, and goal achievement issues.
My therapeutic approach utilizes a unique blend of more conventional therapies with alternative methods. This approach varies with each client, depending on his or her individual needs. I value a holistic perspective, and favor 'talk' therapy, Brainspotting, EMDR, yoga theory, mindfulness meditation, humanistic, and sometimes, even equine-assisted psychotherapy.
I work in my practice to provide a confidential and non-judgmental setting, which is essential for exploring issues and generating solutions. I promote increased self awareness and knowledge, which works towards reducing stress in one's life, and develops a sense of balance.
