Susan M Archer, LCSW, Clinical Social Work/Therapist in Richmond
I treat people with a variety of concerns--losses, trauma, addictions and mental health diagnoses. They may have abuse or trauma from a variety of life situations--childhood, military, relationships, and injuries/illness. I work with couples, straight and gay,and find that working with both partners can be very useful in getting to the root of the problem and untangling issues. My goal is to create the healing environment I would want as a client--safe, relaxed, professional, and focused on progress. My clients report they are relieved to find me and say their lives are improving as treatment progresses.
Trauma is my specialty, whether a single event or a history of many traumatic events. Techniques incomporated into therapy include EMDR, deep emtional release and process, and mindfulness cognitive behavioral therapy. My approach is gentle, non-shaming and unpretentious. People often have dual issues such as addiction or mental health diagnosis.
I'm comfortable with myself and others and feel very fortunate to do this kind of work. I love people and especially people who have hurts. I welcome your emails and any questions you may have about the therapy process.
