Wesley Stahler, LMFT, RDT, ECMH, Marriage & Family Therapist in Los Angeles
Wishing like parenting came with directions. Realizing you are not the parent, and or partner you thought. Negative behaviors bringing you down. Wondering if your child's ok? Challenges with siblings, bedtimes, strong emotions, school, fill in the blank... Parenting can be the most stressful time, when it is touted as the most joyful. It is a fast track to getting your PhD in personal growth & development. I have been there. And, I can help. We can talk about those dirty, little secrets. Together, concretely creating a plan with long, lasting results. Bringing ease and strength, breaking unhealthy patterns.
Being a mother, I understand and normalize the challenges. I am strength-based, LMFT, Registered Drama Therapist, as well as, an Early Childhood Mental Health speciality. I have over 20 years experience. My approach is multi-modal using developmental guidance, play, arts, humor and mindfulness for growth, insight and change.
My work includes a decade at Children's Hospital, plus prisons, schools, homeless shelters, research facilities. Services are provided at my office, or home-visits which cuts through length of treatment. Together creating what would be most supportive. I follow your lead while gently pushing. Relief is possible.

Wesley Stahler's Groups

Soothe - play/support grp for babies & caregivers

Soothe is a 10 wk grp for newborns to early walkers focusing soothing the caregiver while soothing the baby. Over the course of the 10 wks we will develop & expand upon the coping & soothing strategies the caregiver & baby have developed. Each session we use expressive arts, baby massage, developmental and sensory play to build connection & attachment between mother & child & support & community  within the group. Working with consistency, predictability and routine we will develop archival, heirloom baby-centered art and a journal during our 10 weeks along with greater competencies & trust  in our new role as parent & a loved, secure baby.

Once Around the Lake

Once Around the Lake Thursday, 9:30 - 10:45 Meadow @ Silverlake Reservoir. The group will begin with a circle time - connecting with song followed with an intro to the focus of the day. The focus will include seeing the world through our babies eyes. We will slow down and explore using our senses, a time to quiet us while we quiet our children. Next, once around the lake - physically taking care of us we will connect with our bodies while connecting with our babes & one another. Bring your stroller, baby carrier.... Session conclude circling in the meadow, closing song & snack.

Girl Group

This is the group we wish we had when we were pre-teens. During the ten-week session, we'll offer concrete tools to navigate this changing world. Through writing, dance, conversation and art, we will explore topics such as "social media," "friendship," "becoming an expert," "finding your story," "self-love" and more. Teen guides and special guests will add sparkle to this strength driven and community building effort. Loving facilitation to normalize the challenges of the pre-teen experience. Each session ends with a meal, making it a super awesome way to end the week!
