From my perspective, psychotherapy is a collaboration. It has been referred to as the "talking cure" because it heals through conversation. Putting troubling thoughts, emotions, and memories into words enables them to be felt and understood more deeply, to be borne with greater resilience, and to facilitate wiser choices. And, the privacy, boundaries, empathy, and safety of the therapeutic relationship can enable even the most shameful and frightening feelings to be faced and worked through.
There is also the opportunity to give new meanings to old stories, so that the traumas of the past needn't be the script for the future, and real change becomes possible.
As a naturopathic doctor and clinical psychologist, licensed in both professions, my aim is to create a practice that joins science-based natural medicine, nutrition, and psychotherapy to treat both mind and body.
