My ideal client is a child, person, or family who is ready for change. Due to my play therapy training, it is also important for the client to be willing to participate in hands on activities in addition to traditional talk therapy.
I use an eclectic style of counseling. In session, clients will experience a client centered approach, with the addition of behavioral techniques, playful interactions, and experiential exploration. Using metaphor has been helpful to engage clients in meaningful activities and discussions.
My training in play therapy allows me to work with the very young and children who are unable to address the problem with words. Play is unique in that it allows the child to safely gain coping skills needed everyday.
