Linda Freedman, PhD, LCSW, LMFT, Clinical Social Work/Therapist in Chicago
A good fit is hard to find, a lot like the right AA meeting. But you'll know when it is right, find yourself blurting way too much in that first visit, wondering if you should even return. But it actually helps, not just talking, but learning new tools you didn't know existed. For me, a good evaluation is critical, and that will 2-3 visits. But I'll share all the while. Video therapy, or telehealth is something that's possible, too.
I catch on quickly, and love the mystery of what is wrong. Relationship therapies are a specialty, as is establishing a therapeutic relationship. I'm good at behavioral change, but if all you want is to talk your head off, we'll get to those Ah Ha moments, that way.
What's unique about me? Maybe being from a medical family, and having taught grad school, much to pass on. Being a chameleon works, having poor boundaries is a plus in this field (joke). I'm the mother you never had, the sister, the girlfriend, daughter, mentor. It can be hard.
