Linda Freedman, PhD, LCSW, LMFT, Clinical Social Work/Therapist in Chicago
Lately I'm pushing the telehealth, discounting heavily to do it without relying on insurance. Selling ourselves is the last thing therapists want to do, it feels so cheap. But I still have a nice office, and still take some insurance, and keep up obsessively with the latest, greatest therapeutic models.
Catching on quickly, loving the mystery of finding what is wrong (and a solution), using therapies with letters, like CBT, ACT, and DBT, are my greatest weapons. But I love the psychodynamic-- connecting the dots of a story, and listening, throwing in my 30 years of hard earned practice wisdom-- after you stop.
What's unique about me? Maybe being from a medical family, and having taught grad school, much to pass on. Being a chameleon works, having poor boundaries is a plus in this field (joke). I'm the mother you never had, the sister, the girlfriend, daughter, mentor. It can be hard.
