Claudio O. Toppelberg, MD, Psychiatrist in Boston
I am an experienced, Harvard-trained child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist, usually working with ages 4-30. I have expertise in autism and the range of developmental/ learning disabilities, including language-based- and nonverbal- LD. I run psychiatric services at an excellent school for autistic children/adolescents, the prestigious New England Center for Children. I also treat those suffering from ADHD, depression, trauma, stress, anxiety, and selective mutism. I can help with emotional/ behavioral issues preventing weight loss. I also treat difficulties in competitive/ competent work, study or sports performance, e.g., in student and professional athletes, such as tour-level tennis players.
I am the former director of psychiatry at Manville School, part of the renowned Judge Baker Children's Center, a Harvard Medical School affiliate, where I teach and conduct research (see my website for details). My long experience as a physician and psychopharmacologist has taught me a cautious approach to medications, minimizing adverse effects.
In my child work, I collaborate with and deeply value the views of parents and others involved. In my work with adults, my approach is collaborative and I deeply respect individual preferences. ***NOTE: NO insurance accepted. Only private pay.***
