Ellen D Mazer, LICSW, Clinical Social Work/Therapist in Washington
The decision to enter therapy often reflects one's desire to make changes in their lives. We posses a keen internal radar system that sometimes leads us to realize that the quality of our lives can improve. Your internal radar may point toward your readiness to enter therapy as suggested by your visit to this site. I provide patients with an open, nonjudgmental emotional space to examine potential changes they desire in their lives. Together we explore how you can achieve your goals. My therapeutic approach emphasizes the examination of significant relationships, including the therapist and client, to provide the client with insight to grow.
I possess advanced certification in trauma treatment. Trauma is a broad term that can include a range of experiences from abuse to serious illness or even divorce. The symptoms can include depression, flashbacks, sleep difficulties, difficulty concentrating or and or an exaggerated startle reflex.
I offer Saturday and Tuesday night hours to facilitate those who work or need such times. My office is conveniently located near American University. I have a special interest in working with college students with a range of presenting challenges including adjustment to college, anxiety, depression and sexual identify issues.
