Marie Hopper, MA, LMFT, Marriage & Family Therapist in Albany
The stress and anxiety needs to stop. I get it. Life can't continue to be this hard. Reducing anxiety is a bit by bit process of making changes that can ultimately change the whole landscape - for you and for those you care about. Career and family are important, and so are you. Let me help you slow down a little, examine your exhausted or overworked self, and find a way to do more than survive the day. Life has so much more to offer.
Many people don't realize when their stress has taken over. But when the majority of our choices are simply about minimizing distress, then we never make choices that lead to greater satisfaction. Choosing to reduce negative experience is not the same as choosing to increase positive experience.
For couples counseling, the model in which I work is, the highly regarded Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples. Please call me if you would like to learn more about this model or how it works.

Support in Parenting you ADD/ADHD Child

Parenting an ADD/ ADHD child can be a challenge and joy. Your child is special, not broken. Come join this group and receive helpful information and warm support in discovering the unique needs of you, your family and your child. In this 5 sessions group, we will discuss what ADD/ADHD is, the many ways it can manifest, and how to respond and parent these children so that they can grow and feel good about themselves (and you can feel good about yourself too!).

Loneliness Solutions

Loneliness is a growing challenge as the digital world takes over social interaction. In this group we will set aside devices, and together look at how we engage and/or avoid others. As a group we will practice authentic communication, give each other feedback, and develop a plan for increased social connection throughout or lives. We will also look at how our self image impacts our social choices and expressions. This group will meet weekly for 12 weeks.

Women's Process Group

Women thrive in the company of supportive others. Healthy relationships help women experience themselves as valued. This group is designed to offer women a space to explore and share who they are and what they need, so they can build the life they want. Through our relationships with ourselves and with each other this group allows women to practice and experience what we want to bring out of ourselves and out of our connections with others. This is an on-going process group. An initial commitment of 3 months is requested.
