Hello, there are some hurts in life that heal only through connecting with another person. Early relational trauma whether physical or emotional can create a heaviness that feels inescapable. Single incident trauma can have this effect as well. Sharing the story seems to exacerbate sleep problems, difficulty engaging in day-day activities, or just rising from bed. You do not need to tell me your story, just arrive and be willing to be curious. I offer therapy for PTSD, life transitions, grief and depression. In my work I offer myself as a supportive presence and companion.
I am trained in working with trauma based on Somatic Experiencing and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy modalities I use in addition to psychodynamic talk-therapy. My former high school students taught me how to be present and to respect and listen without judgement. They also taught me how to laugh and find joy. In addition, I bring my little dog to work with me.
She is a loving, sweet girl who happily sits with you on the couch or not, depending on your (and her) preference. Your dreams will be an important part of our work if you choose to share them. We will go according to your speed, not mine.
