Allison Burgess Brandt, LMFT, Marriage & Family Therapist in Santa Monica
My clinical practice includes work with adults, children and families on a variety of relational, emotional and behavioral issues. I have a direct yet compassionate style, and employ a collaborative approach to treatment planning. One particular focus of my practice includes issues related to separation/divorce. This kind of major life stressor can have lasting effects on a family, and our work can involve the couple, or an individual, or the children affected by the transition. This may include co-parenting counseling, parenting plan coordination and coaching, creating timeshare schedules, collaborating with attorneys and mediators, and identifying new family goals.
Additionally, I run groups and do individual counseling for "Film Widows," people whose partners work on location, to help with adjustment and relationship issues. My work includes offering support as well as helping to co-create strategies for maintaining intimacy and family cohesion despite being apart.
I have particular knowledge and expertise in working with preteens & teens on issues ranging from anxiety and depression to family relationships to self-injury. I'm well-versed in partnering with attorneys, psychiatrists, physicians, teachers and other professionals to incorporate a holistic approach to working with families.
