Johanna Wendell, LLC, MA, LPC, Licensed Professional Counselor in Marietta
STRESS. Life is full of it; Relationships, moving, break-ups, divorce, deaths, injuries, chronic illness, college, jobs (that horrible boss/coworker that you fantasize about slaying), relationships, children (adorable, but stressful nonetheless), balancing life/work demands, trauma, a past that won't stop following you, did I say relationships? :) I specialize in treating adolescents, adults and couples who are struggling with stress, anxiety, depression, and/or related difficulties such as eating disorders, addictions, alcohol abuse, self-harm, relationship problems, etc. My goal is to to help you cope better and feel better ASAP.
I believe therapy is a journey of self-enhancement that everyone can benefit from. We can all use some extra support from time to time from someone whose only intention is to help us live and feel better. I'm here to help you achieve the life you desire and deserve.
I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and offer Christian counseling for my Christian clients. I tailor my approach to best fit the individual needs and preferences of my clients. Working together, we will enhance your strengths and improve your weaknesses so that you can achieve inner peace, freedom, and happiness.

Johanna Wendell, LLC's Groups

Mindfulness Group for Adults

We spend so much time worrying about our future or dwelling on the past that without realizing it, life passes us by. Living in the present may be difficult, but it is the only way to truly experience and embrace life fully. This group will focus on learning the basics of mindfulness, or how to acknowledge and accept our thoughts, feelings, and sensations as they are, without judgment. We will learn to embrace the present moment, rather than ignore, avoid, or judge it. If you want to get out of your mind and into your life, this is the group for you.

More about this group

Body Image Acceptance Group (17-25)

This group will focus on overcoming negative body image. We will focus on challenging our negative self-thoughts and replacing them with more accurate, positive thoughts that don't cause us to feel badly about ourselves. We will discuss common myths about the "ideal body type" in our society and how harmful it is to buy into these myths. Then, we will discuss our life goals and ways to achieve those goals. We will identify our values (e.g., family, friendships, health) and learn how to act in accordance with our values, instead of allowing our negative self-thoughts to negatively dictate our behaviors.
