Helen Nieves, LMHC, ADC-C, CAMS-II, Counselor in Brooklyn
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor where my aim is to increase the individual's sense of his or her own wellbeing. I employ a range of techniques in my practice based on dialogue, communication and behavior change that are designed to improve the mental health of a client. I am certified as an Attention Deficit Consultant Specialist and a Certified Anger Management Specialist- II. I received advanced training in Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy and in grief counseling. I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, anger management, parenting issues, stress management, child/adolescent issues, and grief.
My style is collaborative and goal-oriented and my approach is active-directive and empirically based psychotherapy which focuses on resolving emotional and behavioral disturbances.
Although I use rational emotive behavior therapy, a type of cognitive behavior therapy, to focus on helping you change irrational and negative beliefs, I also use different techniques and therapy approaches to help clients attain growth they are looking for.
