Christie Sosnowski, PsyD, Psychologist in Huntington
In addition to my private practice, my primary experience is working in school settings. My clinical work is with young children who have a range of disorders and presenting problems. My early passion and training includes working with children on the autism spectrum, ranging in age and functioning. My experience expands however, to include children with attachment issues, ADHD, anxiety, emotional dysregulation, social skill challenges and behavioral disorders. I use play therapy and behavior modification to support children in gaining a better understanding of their emotional and social development, as well as become more in control of their behavior.
Whether your child is facing emotional outbursts, low self-esteem, difficulty making friends, school anxieties or hyperactivity, I create a therapeutic environment that is tailored for each child. I have a relational approach that emphasize's trust, collaboration, self-esteem building, interpersonal skills, and coping skill development through play therapy.
My work in Early Intervention and schools has given me the experience of working with Speech/Language and Occupational Therapists and teachers. I participate in CSE meetings and work with parents regarding the IEP process and school placement. I can attend schools to conduct behavioral assessments and create behavior plans.
