Adolescence can be a difficult period of transition for many. Peer pressure, changing environments and non-traditional or abrupt family changes can be challenging for a child as well as a parent. Finding a connection with someone who can help manage and overcome feelings of inadequacy is the first step to wellness.
I have worked with children ages 2-21 for over 15 years in ministry, community outreach and mentoring programs. Understanding the core issues of a challenge is the beginning of the work for the client and for the therapist as well. As a team, we will find hope in hopeless situations.
Working with children with dual diagnosis, ADHD, behavioral challenges and mood disorders in a school setting has proven to be fulfilling and has enriched my commitment to serving those with little or no voice. Offering encouragement to others to develop the client's sense of belonging.
