At the heart of my approach is the belief that human beings naturally possess the power to heal, change, and grow. With that in mind, I encourage and support a collaborative process between myself and the client. The purpose of forming this therapeutic relationship is to enable the client to identify the obstacles and resolve the conflicts which interfere with his or her ability to live life fully.
First, I create a comfortable and compassionate atmosphere in which the work can unfold. The foundation of my approach lies in psychodynamic theory, which considers the client within environment. I then incorporate Mindfulness-based therapies and Internal Family Systems work to assist clients in developing healthy connections with life, others, and self.
I have over 25 years of experience treating a wide range of mental health disorders, including anxiety, mood disorders, posttraumatic stress, substance-related and addictive disorders, and grief and loss issues. In addition, I work well with clients experiencing transitions in life, including divorce recovery, relationship issues, and work-related stress.
