What is most important in my work is a sense of comfort and trust between the client and counselor. I use a number of different modalities depending upon the needs and comfort of my individual and couples clients. These may include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused CBT, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Positive Parenting instruction, instruction on successful and compassionate communication and Mindfulness Based CBT.
I integrate mindfulness into my work, frequently encouraging clients to begin mindfulness practice, at times providing guided meditation during the session to ground both the client and myself. This can lay the foundation for good therapeutic work and ends the session encouraging calm and clarity of mind.
I identify as an LGBTQI ally and am a cofounder of Community Pride Walla Walla. I am a former member of Walla Walla's Diversity Coalition, former Blue Mountain Heart To Heart board member and feel strongly about providing safe, accepting and comfortable spaces for all who need care regardless of race, ethnicity, gender or sexuality.
