As a therapist, it is my goal to compassionately connect with clients and hear their stories. I will help clients identify personal strengths, define desired changes, and create an individualized plan to move toward health and wholeness. My clientele include families, couples, adults, adolescents, and children. I address trauma, sexual and emotional abuse, eating disorders, self-harm, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, communication issues, forgiveness, shame, cross-cultural stress & adjustment, ministry stress, and premarital counseling (using Prepare/Enrich).
I use an eclectic approach, including family systems, EMDR, emotionally-focused couples therapy, CBT, DBT, and psycho-dynamic techniques. I enjoy being able to apply clinical, spiritual, and expressive arts tools to assist in the healing journey. I am an approved supervisor for licensed professional counselor associates seeking licensure in NC and in MN.
My life experience includes decades of church and humanitarian-based work with individuals and groups. I have traveled extensively and lived cross-culturally for 7 years in Eastern Europe with my husband and four children. I am a counselor educator with experience in teaching at the masters and doctorate levels.
