Andrew Oliver Elman, LPC, ATR, NCC, Counselor in Chapel Hill
I am a North Carolina licensed professional counselor. I have over 11 years of experience providing therapy for children, adolescents, and adults. I incorporate my training of mindfulness, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and expressive therapy (art therapy) to help my clients in reducing anxiety and emotional distress, and thus improving understanding and self-awareness. I specialize in adolescent and adult psychotherapy, expressive therapy, eating disorders, depression, and anxiety/panic disorders. I have helped many parents improve their parenting skills and communication.
People who find DBT to be helpful struggle with regulating their emotions, have trouble tolerating distress, and as a result their social relationships suffer. I love working with adolescents and college students, as I find they benefit from this work immensely. I have extensive EMDR training and often use this in combination with DBT.
MA in Clinical Psychology received from Phillips Graduate Institute in Chatsworth, CA in 2005. I accept BCBS.
