Tim Smyth, PsyD, MFT, PsyD, MFT, Marriage & Family Therapist in Santa Clarita
I have over 25 years of experience in helping people find happiness/satisfaction in the face of many challenges and setbacks. If you are unhappy or in distress, therapy can help you take charge and get back on track. I can help you conquer anxiety, depression, relationship issues, parenting problems and generally achieve better control over your life. I have a large toolbox full of tips and interventions. **Where feasible, I provide in-home services to families**
I specialize in the treatment of teens, adults, and couples. I employ tried-and-true practices which address mood disorders. I have particular expertise in addressing anxiety by use of biofeedback-enhanced guided imagery, and solution-focused CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) approaches. I have extensive experience with learning-disabled and emotionally dysregulated teenagers.
I help parents deal with brittle, defiant, and aggressive children and find ways to encourage their cooperation and respect. I also have many years' experience helping couples and families become better at communicating their needs and resolving conflicts through the use of communication-focused cognitive behavioral therapy.
