Beginning therapy can be one of the most difficult things we do. It can also be the most rewarding. It is stepping into the unknown and taking an unfamiliar path to a destination that may seem completely out of reach. Therapy is a journey and I will be your travel companion. It is my firm belief that as humans, we just want to be seen and heard. In my practice, I strive to create an environment that is safe, nurturing and most importantly, free of judgement so that I can both see and hear you.

Life, without a doubt, can be burdensome with its obligations and expectations often leaving us feeling stuck, unheard and alone. Between managing the demands of daily stressors it can feel like we're drowning and we forget to take care of ourselves. Yet, the gift of self expression gives us permission to return the love and energy we give outwardly to ourselves. Using strength-based techniques, I work collaboratively with individuals, couples and families seeking lasting relief from the strife's of “adulting”, anxiety, depression and complex trauma.

Hi, thanks for visiting my page! I love and often find myself working with creatives (film, tv, music, production, writing) as well as those in tech and finance. My work with individuals and/or couples is centered around anxiety and ocd related issues, existential dread (yes it’s a for sure thing!), and relationship challenges. Sessions often look like the space to problem solve, get deep, and work through blocks/feeling stuck. If this sounds like something of interest feel free to reach out, I’d love to meet you!

During these unusual times we are dealing with an unsettling reality that evokes strong reactions on personal, social and unconscious levels. These unique times require shifts and changes that can be challenging. We are all called to reflect and face deep inner and outer events that are out of our control. Healing adaptation and adjustment can happen on their own. Engaging in our own healing work can provide new state of consciousness, change and growth.

Hello! I work with tweens, teens, and millennials to help them go from isolation, sadness, dropping grades, excessive worry and difficulty managing life/family stress to feeling more confident, happier, able to manage school/life, hanging out with friends on the weekends, and deeper relationships with family. I love working with people who feel like they just don't fit in and helping them to find that confidence to be themselves. I also love helping people to connect more to their friends and/or family and to build those natural support systems.

All roads lead to Rome! It doesn't matter where we jump in, if you’re ready, we’ll get there. My approach is based on Attachment Theory & CPTSD: the idea that much of our conflict & distress stems from old wounds & unmet needs. De-coding this blueprint provides a path toward healing & fulfillment. Relational issues, estrangement, Teen/YA issues & living life “on purpose” are all areas I am passionate about. I incorporate trauma-informed, conventional therapeutic modalities and a Buddhist Psychology perspective. I am a rabid ally and advocate for equality. Coming Soon: Psychedelic Assisted Therapy (currently Ketamine only).

I believe life experiences sometimes put us in a place where we need help to guide us through different aspects of our lives. Pain and suffering caused by the loss of a loved one; navigating the often troublesome path of childhood and adolescence; interpersonal difficulties between couples; fears, anger management and family dynamics are areas I specialize in treating in a warm, safe and comfortable environment. Also, I feel that early issues, loses and experiences help to define how a person makes choices in their lives as they mature. As a therapist, I want to help my clients discover ways to make their life more rewarding.

Bad things are bound to happen in life - this is just part of being alive. Sometimes it is easy for us to bounce back to our to normal lives & then there are those other times where it seems as if we are stuck on a rollercoaster of emotions with no end in sight. And then at other moments, we think that we've dealt with this bad thing, only to have it keep popping up in random ways in our lives. Being in that kind of place can feel frustrating, confusing, lonely, and let's face it, pretty scary because it is difficult to know what to do, where to go, or who to turn to for help.

Waitlist for new clients
My clients generally fall into two categories. Many clients are functioning just fine in many aspects of their lives but have some trauma/stress, relationship/employment, self esteem issues, substance use or mood/anxiety disorders that just keep them feeling stuck in an unhealthy pattern. There are also those whose lives are crashing down, with little hope that things can get better. There are no issues too big or too small that aren't worth exploring if they are causing distress. Clients come with baggage in search of a lighter load. That is what we work on together.

I believe in creating a safe and nurturing environment by providing empathy, unconditional positive regard, and a genuine approach in the treatment process. I utilize a variety of treatment modalities in order to meet each individuals unique needs. During my work in the past 14 years, I have been trained to treat trauma, anxiety, depression, relational/intimacy issues, and grief. I also integrate mindfulness meditation, CBT, healthy living practices and family systems techniques as a strategy to facilitate growth, healing, and balance. When we are able to rise out of our suffering, we can then begin the process of self-awakening.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Encino?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
