Gregory D. Burns, MA, LMFT, Marriage & Family Therapist in Livermore
My focus areas are: Couples Counseling (using Emotionally Focused Therapy), Old Trauma (co-dependency, PTSD, using experiential interventions), Alcoholism Recovery (using 12 Steps and emotional sobriety), Grief/Loss, Christian and Spiritual Counseling and Aging. My deepest conviction is the dignity of the human person. My best tools are compassion, mercy, forgiveness and grace.
My soul task is to remind people of their inherent goodness, True Self. I don't give it to you; you already have it, but you may not be confident of it. Everybody gets stuck in the False Self, which is not bad, just limited and problematic.
I collaborate with you in every session to determine if a) counseling is working for you and b) I am the right counselor using the right style. I am humbled and grateful to work with each client.

Gregory D. Burns's Groups

Healing Childhood Wounds

Healing Childhood Wounds is a psychodrama group for adults that are noticing the effects of childhood trauma in their current relationships and activities. The group meets on the third Saturday of the month, from 9am-4pm. It opens to new clients every four months. We believe that spontaneous, new experience is the best method to heal the wounds of past experience.
