Feeling disconnected and tired of having the same conversations with your partner over and over without reaching a resolution can be taxing on your relationship. I help couples who would like to transform their communication skills, resolve conflicts, and feel connected to their partner again. I also work with individuals who are looking for a safe place to process and heal their pain from past trauma and relationships, that want to move forward feeling confident and empowered, but are unsure where to start.

There are many aspects of life that pull us away from our authentic selves. You might be feeling lost, confused, critical, or disconnected and hoping to find a way to connect with yourself and others, but not sure how or where to start. Many of us are motivated to explore our identities and life purpose, especially during times of change and transition, and that can be a scary journey. Individual, relationship, and group counseling are great opportunities to allow yourself to actively take a step toward connection and fulfillment.

I exclusively offer weekend appointments in order to make therapy more accessible to busy professionals and families. You might find you are reliving the same patterns and cycles over and over again in your family, your relationships, your career, or your behaviors. Likely this has caused worry, hurt, anger, or feelings of sadness. Through exploring these patterns or themes, we will work together to gain insight and understand their cause. New skills and strategies will be gained as well, so that you, or your family, can move forward towards happiness.

I'm here to help you release ideas of who you 'should' be as you embrace and make space for who you really are. Unfinished mental and emotional energy patterns of past experiences can resurface in painful ways, limiting our ability to be present and dimming our light. By exploring this pain with conscious intention we encounter our soul's greatest lessons, our richest opportunities for growth, and deep personal transformation. It takes tremendous courage to examine our reality and decide something needs to change. Together we will work to remove barriers to joy and peace while reigniting an excitement for your life.

We cannot always control the situations we find ourselves in but we can choose how to react to them. I believe change comes from vulnerability, respect, and an ability to lean into the uncomfortable. In our work together, I aim to create a safe and nonjudgmental space which will enable you to explore yourself and create the resilience you will need to face adversity. I see challenges as an opportunity for growth and believe one can always learn from mistakes.

Finding an affirming therapist can be a difficult & complex process. For many of us, living as our authentic selves can be challenging. Sometimes there are multiple barriers & difficult decisions ahead. You don’t have to navigate it alone. Together we’ll create a supportive/collaborative space needed to move through any relational challenges, and/or to process difficult experiences. Many clients work with me because they prefer working with a therapist who has first-hand knowledge of trans/queer identities & others work with me because of my 15+ years of experience working systemically with individuals, couples, and families.

Healing from grief and trauma is not a straight or simple journey, and I acknowledge the courage it takes for my clients to confront what can be painful. If you're motivated for positive change in your life, we can work through feelings of anxiety, stress, overwhelm, sadness and loneliness. In our sessions, you'll be able to explore and process your past and present experiences, and I will provide compassion, understanding, and insight in a nurturing, non-judgmental space. We will determine what can be controlled and what can benefit from your acceptance. I believe you can find clarity and more peace on this journey.

The concept of "I will be worthy when..." is a common narrative that many individuals hold. Trauma has a way of distorting our perception of self-worth, making us believe that accomplishing specific goals or fulfilling certain expectations will validate our worth. However, this perception often leads to a trade-off, where we compromise our authenticity for a validation that may not bring the fulfillment we seek. Recovering from trauma involves a gradual process where we address essential interpersonal skills that are not given qualities but need to be learned and nurtured.

Finding a therapist you connect with can be especially challenging when already feeling disconnected from yourself and from those around you. I have found that a validating, non-judgmental, and genuine therapeutic relationship with clients is the first and mightiest step towards healing. I work with often misunderstood men, women, and teens to help improve self-esteem, explore the impacts of trauma, navigate relationships, and to move forward with less weight on their shoulders. The soul of my work is to help identify the root of the struggle so we can laugh and cry to coping, healing, and resilience.

As a dedicated therapist, I focus on supporting women and mothers through a safe, non-judgmental space. My therapy style is supportive, compassionate, and tailored to fit your individual needs. My goal is to understand your values, perspectives, and experiences and offer therapy that meets you where you are and guides you to where you want to be. I am a mental health advocate who believes therapy isn’t about fixing people who are broken; it’s about healing from hurt, challenging beliefs that no longer serve us, and building new perspectives. Therapy is a gateway to prioritizing yourself, your relationships, and your overall health.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Denver?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
