I am passionate about helping adults (18 yrs+) become empowered by better understanding their struggles, learning tools to heal and to cope with current or past issues, and, in that process, to become the boss of their life again. I believe that all emotions and behaviors make sense in the context of one's life and are often attempts to solve a problem in the best way one knows how. Thus, there is no crazy! When wounds from the past get triggered in the present, it's an invitation for healing. Seeking help is a step to freedom I specialize in treating anxiety, PTSD/ C-PTSD, grief and loss, relationship struggles and women's issues.

It’s difficult to admit we don’t always like the person that stares back at us when we look in the mirror. Sometimes life can make you a shell of your former self. You may ask yourself, Am I a good friend, partner, parent, child, student, worker? The burden of trying to be everything for everyone can feel draining. For so long you have pretended to be okay. Maybe, at times you even believed you were okay. Therapy offers you the opportunity to explore past experiences while also focusing on your ideal future self. You don't have to do this alone. Allow me to help you experience life more abundantly.

As a licensed psychotherapist, I have experience working with a variety of issues. I believe that change happens when an individual experiences the therapeutic relationship as safe and nonjudgmental. This allows individuals to develop a voice and be heard. I support my clients in accessing their innate motivation to change while assisting them in re-evaluating patterns of thought and behavior that inhibit personal growth. I have been trained in therapeutic practices that are shown to be effective in helping clients to reach their personal goals.

You wake up in the morning and wonder if today is the day you'll be exposed and your mask fill fall off. You're twisting and turning on the inside. Everything inside you hurts. Your head is spinning with thoughts of what your life should be like. The voice's inside your head keep telling you you're a failure as a person, as a partner, and as a parent. You feel the the "weight of the world" pushing down on you. You're tired. You're tired of being tired. You are ready to reclaim your life. You are ready to make a change.

Clients seek counseling wanting to be understood and know what to do about their problems. Fighting in circles without resolution, struggling to communicate or feel understood, and arguing or shutting down are all symptoms of relationship struggles. Low desire, affairs, and trust violations are symptoms of deeper relationship problems. I like helping people get down to business so they can understand and correct problems at the core. Clients love my genuine, straightforward approach and learn a lot in sessions. They leave feeling safe, with increased hope, and tasks to work on to improve their lives and achieve their goals.

Deciding on therapy is a step toward self-improvement. Deciding on a therapist is the next step in that pursuit. It is important to find a therapist that will provide an environment that allows you to share, collaborate, and ultimately, grow. I believe that therapy can help provide an additional perspective, which can bolster self-awareness and foster individual growth. My goal is for clients to feel safe and comfortable to explore areas of their lives they wish to better understand or improve.

I chose this profession from a profound desire to help and a strong belief that we all deserve help and healing. Deciding to seek help is the first brave step towards wellness. Taking positive strides and making healthy changes is what I am here to help with. Developing a warm, trusting, and calm environment is what I strive to provide each and every session. The most important aspect of therapy is developing a healthy therapeutic relationship where you feel safe to share your feelings, thoughts and experiences.

Not accepting new clients
NOT CURRENTLY ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS. For the past 18 years, I've had the privilege of helping people of all ages through life challenges and heal from difficult experiences. Clients experience long-term change, due to interventions that are healing, supportive, and empowering. Trust and safety are established in an environment where people can feel understood, respected, and never judged, which is the most important thing to me to provide, as a therapist. Asking for help can be difficult and takes courage. I admire anyone willing to explore therapy as an opportunity for growth and healing.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Rochester Hills?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
