That is why my main focus is on creating a safe and non-judgmental environment for my clients to explore what it is like to take risks and be vulnerable in the presence of another. I know that I can only take my clients as far as I have gone myself, and that is why I continue to actively participate in my own personal therapy, healing, and addiction recovery work.
I believe that how your pain was handled can be more traumatizing than the actual event itself. Your environment significantly influences your emotional, physical, social, and spiritual well-being. I also understand that everyone copes, perceives, and interprets traumatic experiences differently.
