I specialize in working with two main populations: neurodivergent thinkers, including autism and ADHD, and the intersection where grief and trauma meet. I love the quote, "When you can remember your trauma without reliving it, that is the day you are freed," by Mandy Antoniacci. If you are looking for healing and support and are feeling stuck in your life, I would love to help. As an EMDR-trained therapist, I aim for you to feel heard, comforted, and supported on your journey through emotional healing. Let's walk together through your story of pain and/or loss to a path that leaves you with the tools to move forward in wellness.

I take a whole body approach to health and illness with a focus on how the mind influences the body just as the body influences the mind. Anxiety, depression, and stress can impact health and exacerbate chronic pain, heart disease, insomnia, and other medical problems. However, addressing the emotional aspects of medical conditions can improve quality of life and physical health. Also, psychological principles can help enhance wellness and lead to lasting behavioral changes. As a health psychologist, I can help you emotionally cope with medical conditions, make healthy lifestyle choices, and learn skills to move forward with your life.

Do you assist and serve others professionally or personally while seeking meaning and purpose? Perhaps, you’re feeling overwhelmed and your once fulfilling work is starting to lose its appeal? The world is often full of unexpected events. Even with the best laid plans, these events can lead to struggles. While it’s a gift to care for others during difficult times, it can leave us drained, off balance, and feeling alone. You are a dedicated caregiver to others. Is it time to give yourself that care, as well?

There are moments in life when we may feel overwhelmed. We may have tried everything in our power to overcome challenges and feel stuck. When we continue to face difficulties we may not realize the impact the stress has on our relationships, work life, finances, or overall health. In our time together we can examine the influences in your life including sources of trauma and societal pressures. We will incorporate your values and coping skills. Most importantly, we find hope for you to live a life that is meaningful for you.

It may be no surprise that everyone struggles with something. But that doesn't necessarily make it any easier to feel or cope with your pain. Perhaps you've reached out to trusted friends or family members for support, but are still looking for additional resources. Or maybe what you're struggling with feels too burdensome or difficult to share with those closest to you. It could be, as is often the case, that your primary concern has to do with the very person you would normally confide in! Whatever the situation, I hope to be the extra measure of support you are looking for.

People who often see me struggle with managing symptoms of stress, anxiety, or depression that may also be impacting relationships, work, and other personal goals. It's normal to feel stuck as you navigate different phases of your life and realize that your existing ways of managing stressors are not working this time. As a trauma informed therapist, I also help people navigate current challenges that may be related to past traumatic experiences.

I enjoy helping children and families work together through challenges faced at school and home. I feel many obstacles can eventually be looked upon as a catalyst for growth especially in the areas of resiliency and confidence. I have a true understanding of the needs of children in the school setting. I like to use practical ways to involve the child in being an active participant in therapy and work closely with the parents to tailor a plan that best fits their unique needs. I enjoy working with families who face the unique challenges children with special needs face along with their siblings.

At The Marriage Clinic we have been saving and strengthening marriages for over 35 years. We understand how hard it is for partners to feel alone in a relationship that was once so close, or to feel they are always letting their partner down or not good enough no matter what they do. We also know how difficult it is for couples who feel they constantly fight with each other, sometimes over seemingly small things or having the same fights over and over.

Relationships are complicated. Our relationships can bring us great joy, but also great and lasting pain. Many of the burdens that we carry come from our relationships with others, both past and present. These relationships, then, need to be part of our emotional healing, whether or not other people participate in counseling. As a Marriage & Family Therapist, I believe that we all have the ability to heal within our relationships and within ourselves. It is the goal of the counseling process, then, to empower us to heal and change in order to live more balanced and fulfilling lives.

Experience the transformative power of EMDR. Change is possible! You feel stuck and the answers don't seem to be working for you. Often, you experience underlying feelings of sadness, shame, anger, fear, and loneliness despite “living the good life.” You can’t sleep, or find yourself triggered by the smallest things. You don't completely understand the pain, and it’s left you confused and hopeless. Others seem to go so effortlessly through their days, while you’re struggling to keep it together. It takes so much effort to get out of bed, and it is hard to enjoy the life you have worked so hard to build.

Taking a step to take care of yourself and work through hard things can be scary. I believe together we can work as a team to take you where you are ready to go. Offering empathy, acceptance, and a safe space for us to figure out your next step, together we can move forward. Humans are born trying their best and doing what they can to get by with the life they were given. It is because of humans’ innate sense to strive towards the good, that together we can use these same tools you have had all along to help you get to a place where you can thrive. I believe that I can be the person to help get you to that spot.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.
Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
How much does therapy cost?
The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.
What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?
Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
Are therapy sessions confidential?
Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
