I have been counseling clients for over 20 years and have found that making this initial outreach is often the biggest hurdle. Many of the individuals I work with have experienced depression or anxiety and many have found that substance use, once a form of 'decompression', has in fact compounded their struggle. This does not need to be your 'new' or 'permanant normal.'
I ask my clients to take a whole-body, whole-wellness perspective. We work together to evaluate not necessarily the symptoms of depression, anxiety, or substance abuse, but instead, how these are each symptomic of a broader life dis-ease. Together we create goals to address dis-ease, locate new purpose, and bring life back into balance.
