I truly believe that recovery of all kinds is a journey and not a destination. I have worked with adults 18 years and older who have substance use and mental health challenges and I have a special interest in older adults who are approaching life transitions.
I have worked in the substance use/mental health field for 45 years, 38 of those years as a counselor and 21 years as a clinical supervisor. I am licensed as a clinical mental health counselor as well as a clinical addictions specialist. In addition, I am a certified clinical supervisor, providing supervision for individuals preparing to be licensed.
I believe that there are not enough therapists who provide services for the older adult substance abuser or the individual who is facing transitions such as retirement, divorce, death of a loved one, etc. and the complex feelings associated with those transitions.
