I offer clients a supportive, caring environment to identify solutions for growth and well-being. Together we can identify specific problems and create common sense strategies that have high probabilities of success. The areas often discussed in therapy include relationships, substance abuse, career frustrations and one's own experience of psychological symptoms most commonly anxiety and depression. By approaching psychotherapy through a person-centered, solution-focused, skills based perspective, I can assist individuals from diverse backgrounds. Our common goal is to create a path toward a quality of life that increases a sense of well-being, balance and happiness.
I utilize worksheets and handouts to arm clients with practical evidenced based skills to support change efforts. My orientation is rooted in two evidenced based theoretical orientations. The theories I use are Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). Both orientations create structure and momentum within the sessions.
Couple's sessions are structured using the principles of Emotionally Focused Therapy and Adult Attachment theory. The process requires approximately 10 sessions. I welcome all couples. DBT can be applied in both individual sessions or a Skills Training Group designed to support those with a history of substance abuse.

DBT Skills training group
This is a comprehensive DBT skills training group designed for people with an issue with substance abuse. The holistic treatment group has multiple components including participating in the weekly group and individual sessions. Phone coaching is available for skills group participants. There is a 6 month commitment and four orientation sessions required prior to enter group. The modules covered include Mindfulness, Interpersonal Effectiveness, Distress Tolerance and Emotional Regulation.
