I specialize in working with patients with mood, anxiety, and personality disorders who have found that drugs and alcohol are worsening their ability to feel fulfilled, be productive, or thrive in healthy relationships. I use modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), interpersonal therapy (IPT), and relapse prevention (RPT) to help patients enhance their adaptive coping strategies in response to distress in life. When indicated, I also provide medication management to augment psychotherapy.
I am a board certified psychiatrist, addiction psychiatrist, and NIH-funded research scientist at Columbia University Medical Center. I am also the physician co-founder of Ophelia Health Inc. and serve as the CMO. My work on addiction and mental illness has been published in NEJM, Lancet, JAMA Psychiatry, AJP, and the Annals of Internal Medicine.
I maintain a small private practice and emphasize consolidated treatment with weekly visits for intensive psychotherapy and medication management. Most care is now remote due to COVID disruptions.
