I specialize in therapy for children and adolescents who are struggling with emotional and behavioral difficulties at home or school. I offer a warm, accepting environment for children to learn about and express themselves, play, grow, and heal. Our work focuses on competencies and solutions rather than limitations and problems. Through a holistic perspective we work on presenting problems and overall social and emotional development to promote growth and healthy transitions to adulthood. I work collaboratively with parents/caregivers, teachers and school counselors to ensure all individuals in the child's life have the opportunity to address their concerns.
I utilize play therapy with young children who do not yet have the ability to express their feelings in words, but naturally do so through play. Our work focuses on ways to express fears, cope with overwhelming emotions in a healthy way and learn effective ways of communicating and behaving.
The teen years can be such a challenging time and teens often feel completely alone. I provide a safe, supportive, non-judgmental space where they can discuss their hopes and fears, make sense of their feelings, learn to manage overpowering emotions and harmful behaviors and create goals for the future.
