Katie Brandi, LCSW, Clinical Social Work/Therapist in New York
My goal is for my patients to find relief from their pain and gain a better understanding of who they are. Examining perceptions and patterns can help people to understand what is not working in their lives and can lead to sustainable change. Therapy offers the opportunity to resolve relationship issues, manage chronic anxiety and depression, work through trauma, sort out painful experiences like divorce and infertility, and examine questions of identity and fulfillment. It is essential that the patient feel their therapist truly understands them. I am happy to help you find the right therapist, whether me or someone else.
My approach tends to be flexible and straightforward. The work deepens when we focus on insight into your family and your patterns of relating and how those inform your current thoughts and actions. But some weeks we may focus on symptom relief and concrete help resolving a conflict.
I have a BA from Yale, an MSW from NYU, and a degree in Psychoanalysis and Comprehensive Psychotherapy from the National Institute for the Psychotherapies, and taught at UVA and GW University. I believe trusting your instinct is the best way to find the right therapist and a rewarding therapy.
